Visiting Scientist May 2025-June 2025.
I am a biologist with a PhD in Biological Sciences. Currently, I hold the position of professor and researcher at National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). My main research lines focus on biodiversity conservation, biogeography, and the ecological impacts of climate change on the spatio-temporal distribution patterns of tropical biodiversity. My projects integrate species distribution modeling, conservation planning, landscape ecology and ecological niche theory to evaluate current and future threats to biodiversity, particularly in Neotropical ecosystems. I have worked extensively on identifying priority conservation areas under climate and land-use change scenarios, with a special interest on dry forests, animal–plant interaction networks (including pollinators and seed-dispersing mammals), and the development of strategies to mitigate biodiversity loss in urban and peri-urban environments, such as the Mexican Megalopolis. My goal is not only to advance scientific understanding but also inform conservation actions and public policy ( specially into Protected Areas ) in Latin America.
